Got Cred?

Thoughts on Style,

Tone and

Examples.

Just the facts, please.

In general, simply write in a factual tone. It is a research paper, as such, we simply state facts and DOCUMENT THEM.

It's all about Documentation. Cite your facts (just like you tell your students to do).

It is essential you include exactly what evidence you are using to document what you write - so on Moodle - give it a full bibliographical citation like you would in a research report.

If you have the document, or know where it is - include that in the email, please.

Also, if it is not readily available on the LACC, LACCD web sites, then please send Joe Meyer an email saying what evidence you are using.

If it is not already digitized, we have to get it digitized!

We must compile all the evidence and store the"non-digital" paper stuff 'till it is digitized.

We may be able help you locate your evidence, or put you in contact with some one who can. Think about what evidence you specifically want.

Just affirm the statements in the Reference Booklet, in the order they are asked.

Later, a "narrative" will be developed along with introductions, conclusions, themes, transitions, etc. Don't worry about them now.

When we discuss an issue we will follow this simple progression:

First, we describe the problem.

Second, we give analysis of the problem supported by data and documentation of an open, rational process of evaluation of the data.

Third, we give specific plans with well defined and measurable outcomes.

Three of our sister colleges just went through accreditation. Click below to see their accreditation pages. From each you can view their Self Study reports.

Valley was commended on its written report. Debra Kaye, their Faculty Chair of Accreditation, did an excellent job.

We hope our Self Study Report will be called: thorough, candid, honest, complete, frank, etc.
