Week 1 Checklist and Student Statement

1. Register for this class AND purchase the only text we will use for the course from the bookstore. (See the assignment page for the text title and author.) Buy it from the bookstore and it comes with access to www.betweennation.com, which we will use each week.

2. Go to the Class Home Page/Syllabus and READ IT and READ the Assignments Page. Watch the "Course Welcome Video" and the "How to Pick an International Organization for Your Course Project" Both are found on the Class Home Page/Syllabus

3. Get on eTudes (directions are on the Class Home Page/Syllabus). Confirm your email address and post a "hello" message on the "Week One Sign In" in the class discussion section on eTudes.

4. Get on www.betweennations.com. You will be using this site each week, taking one ACE Practice test each week. You must "record your progress" each week.

5. After you have done all of the above and can honestly attest to everything in the student statement (Below) - copy it and paste it into a regular email (DO NOT attach anything). Put your name at the top and bottom of the student statement (where it belongs) and email it to me: meyerjn@lacitycollege.edu

I will than confirm you are indeed in the class!

1.) That I have read the Class Home Page/Syllabus and the Assignment Page and have viewed Prof. Meyer's videos on the "introduction to the course" and "How to pick an international organization."

2.) I have accessed eTudes, verified my email address and posted a message on the "Week One Sign In" - in the class discussion section. I will check my email address at least ONCE every week.

3.) I have signed in at www.betweennations and have located the Ace Practice tests I am responsible for "recording my progress" on the ACE Practice Tests on betweennations.com

4.) I have read the student code of conduct (in the student handbook) and understand that I can work with others but I MUST DO MY OWN WORK! No one will do any of the work in the class for me. I will not cheat or in any way violate the letter nor spirit of the district and college policies. I understand that plagiarism is a serious offense which will result in receiving 0 points for the work plagiarized.

5.) I will read all fourteen chapters in the text.

6.) I will not make any anonymous postings on eTudes. I will be courteous and appropriate in all my emails and postings.

7.) I will attend the only mandatory meeting for this course, June 5, 2010, 10am.

If you cannot do all these things in the first week, than maybe you should not be in an online class. We will use eTudes and www.betweennations.com EVERY week, so no excuses.
